In 1984, Kevin Pike and his company FILMTRIX, INC were commissioned by MCA./UNIVERSAL to build the vehicles for the Robert Zemeckis film Back to the Future. After many designs by Andrew Probert and Ron Cobb, three DeLorean cars were purchased, cut apart and retrofitted into Time Machines by Kevin and his team. Once complete, they rolled out ready to be photographed.
Seeing the film at an early age, it was easy to become fascinated with the mobile movie star, dreaming of someday owning it. A decade or so later, the fans were older and the internet was abuzz. People actually began making their own versions of this marvelous machine. Seeing people do this proved that owning the BTTF Time Machine could actually become a reality.
This website is dedicated to the BTTF DeLorean time machine and our quest to fulfill our dream of owning it. Years of research and hands-on access to the original film cars helped make this a very nice “real feel” conversion. Remarkable care was taken to capture the look, feel and essence of the original studio cars and wherever possible, the original aircraft and military surplus parts were used.
There may be other time machines out there but I guarantee no one has had more fun with theirs than we have. This project has been one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life and the rewards continue every day.
The pinnacles of this project have been getting the seal of approval from Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale and having Kevin Pike call it “the best conversion he’s seen.”
